Description

The sample package includes the fabric samples, a design description and the material specifications.

The title of this original floral print design references the tradition of still life painting, specifically during the 17th century in the Netherlands, when the Old Masters used exaggerated contrast to direct our attention to the subject of a painting. In this way, they employed areas of intense shadow, just as much as bright highlight, to lead us to the essence, and the real meaning, within the frame.

This piece is very emotional for Ellie, as it represents for her the idea that all emotions - good and bad – lead to bliss. The glowing light in the background, softens and warms the scene, giving you the sense that it is safe to enter into the deepest darkness. There is light on the other side.

For further insight into the (thought) process behind the original design, please see Ellie’s full description here.
