Dark Floral II on Silk Satin Cushion (90 x 50 cm)

For this 90 cm x 50 cm (36” x 20") rectangular cushion featuring Ellie’s original ‘Dark Floral II Black Saturated’ print, we have selected a high quality, medium-weight (82 gr/m2), 100% silk satin fabric with a smooth, luxurious, glossy surface and shine. It can be dry cleaned and ironed at a medium temperature.

We offer a variety of silk satin cushions featuring this print and recommend combining the sizes, formats and scales to your liking. This soft, shiny silk looks great next to rougher, tougher materials like wood, concrete, cast iron, matte-shiny metals and stone.

‘Dark Floral II Black Saturated’ is painted, on the one hand, in a detailed, realistic style. On the other hand, its composition, scale and impossible proportions are imagined and manipulated for dramatic effect. The contrast in proportions between the larger-than-life dahlia and the relatively petite rose, peony and hydrangeas make for an exciting composition. The high contrast between light and dark creates a three-dimensional effect.

White, yellow, pink, red, green and black make up the color palette, directly referencing the still life paintings of the Dutch Golden Age.
