Materials & Sustainability

What types of wallpaper materials do you offer?

We offer two types of premium wallpaper material:

  • Our non-woven wallpaper is recommended for residential use and has a smooth and matte finish. It comes 48.7 cm (19.17") wide strips and weighs 160 g/m² (4.7 oz/yd²).
  • Our vinyl wallcovering is recommended for commercial/contract use and has a more structured and slightly shiny finish. It comes in strips that are 60 cm (23.62") wide. It weighs 350 g/m² (10.3 oz/yd²).

Both materials are high-quality, fire-rated, and custom-printed to order. Learn more about our wallpaper materials.

Is your wallpaper eco-friendly?

Yes! Sustainability is at the heart of what we do. Inspired by nature, Ellie Cashman’s designs are created with a conscious approach to minimize environmental impact.

Here’s how we prioritize sustainability:

  • Low-Waste Production – Our wallpaper is printed on-demand, reducing excess stock and minimizing waste.
  • Responsible Sourcing – Our wallpaper base material meets the Oeko-Tex® Standard 100, ensuring it’s free from harmful substances and safe for indoor use.
  • Eco-Friendly Inks & Printing – We use CO₂-neutral, non-toxic toners that are formaldehyde-free and even safe for food contact.
  • Sustainable Papers & Packaging – We use FSC-certified paper (30% post-consumer waste), recyclable materials, and biodegradable packaging whenever possible.
  • Local & Ethical Production – Our wallpaper is produced in the Netherlands, supporting local employment, including workers with a distance to the labor market.

We’re always looking for new ways to make our products even more sustainable!

How do I choose the right wallpaper material?

Choosing the right material depends on your space and needs:

  • Non-woven is perfect for residential spaces, offering a matte, refined look.

What sizes are your wallpapers available in?

Each wallpaper order is printed on demand and formatted into pre-cut strips for easy installation, based on your wall dimensions.

Non-woven wallpaper:
Width: 48.7 cm (19.2")
Length: Customizable, with a minimum of 50 cm (20")

Vinyl wallcovering:
Width: 60.0 cm (23.6")
Length: Customizable, with a minimum of 50 cm (20")

The strip width is fixed and cannot be customized. However, the length is adjustable in our Wallpaper Configurator to reduce waste and provide a tailored fit for your space.

Learn more about our Wallpaper Configurator.

How long does it take to receive wallpaper?

Wallpaper orders are typically printed and ready for shipment in 2-3 business days. Shipping time depends on your location and selected shipping method.

Do you sell wallpaper by the roll or double roll?

Our wallpaper is not sold in standard or double rolls. Instead, each order is custom-printed to fit your exact wall dimensions, ensuring a one-of-a-kind look tailored to your space.

Standard wallpaper rolls have fixed dimensions and pattern repeats. Because Ellie’s designs can be customized in both scale and placement, we print your wallpaper in pre-formatted strips that align seamlessly as a full mural. The strip width is fixed, but the length is customizable to suit your wall height.

Each strip is clearly labeled with its sequence number, as well as “top” and “bottom” markers to make installation as easy as possible. Once printed, your strips are rolled together into one eco-conscious package (or multiple rolls for larger orders) to minimize waste and shipping materials.

Watch the "How to Install Wallpaper" video at the bottom of this page to see how the strips are packaged and installed.

Can I see the wallpaper in a store or showroom?

Our wallpaper is available exclusively online—but seeing it in person is easy.

We offer samples of all our designs so you can experience the color, texture, and quality up close.

What is the difference between Dark Floral II BlackSaturated and Black DeSaturated?

The difference between Dark Floral II Black
Saturated
and Black DeSaturated is subtle. Black Saturated has warmer tones with more yellows and reds, while Black DeSaturated has cooler tones, giving it a more monochromatic, black-and-white appearance.

To experience both up close, consider ordering samples.

Make sure you have these tools ready for a smooth installation:

  • Adhesive – Suitable for non-woven vinyl or fleece wallcovering
  • Bucket of clean, warm water
  • Clean, dry cotton towel
  • (Lambswool) roller or block brush – For applying adhesive
  • Natural sponge – For smoothing and cleaning excess adhesive
  • Perpendicular & pencil – To ensure straight alignment
  • Plastic spatula – For pressing wallpaper into place
  • Stanley knife or sharp razor – For precise trimming

How do I install Ellie Cashman wallpaper?

Our wallpaper comes in pre-cut strips for easier installation, and we recommend hiring a professional wallpaper hanger for the best results.

If you're installing it yourself, be sure to prepare your walls properly, use the right adhesive, and follow best practices for a smooth finish.

For a full step-by-step guide, check out our wallpaper installation guide.

What kind of adhesive do you recommend?

We recommend using a high-quality wallpaper adhesive that’s specifically suited for non-woven fleece or non-woven vinyl wallpaper. Here are a few trusted options by region:

  • Arte ClearPro – for non-woven wallpaper
  • Metylan for non-woven wallpaper (UK)
  • Roman Pro 880 for both non-woven and vinyl wallcovering (U.S.)
  • Perfax Roze (Ready & Roll) for non-woven wallpaper (NL)

Make sure to follow the manufacturer's instructions and choose a ready-mixed adhesive when possible for best results.

Can I install the wallpaper in a bathroom?

Our wallpaper can be installed in a bathroom as long as the space is well-ventilated. While many of our customers have successfully used it in bathrooms without issues, we recommend avoiding areas with excessive moisture or direct water exposure, as this can affect the adhesive over time.

For added durability, our vinyl wallpaper is the best choice, thanks to its protective top layer. If using non-woven wallpaper, ensure the room has proper airflow to prevent moisture buildup. Regardless of material, wallpaper should not come into direct contact with water.

For more tips on installation, check out our Wallpaper Installation Guide.

Can I install the wallpaper over existing wallpaper?

We highly recommend to remove all existing wallpaper. To prevent the new wallpaper from peeling over time, the adhesive should be applied to a clean, dry and smooth wall.

Care & Maintenance

How do I care for my wallpaper?

Proper care helps preserve your wallpaper’s beauty:

  • Non-woven wallpaper – Dust gently with a dry cloth. Do not use water or cleaning products.
  • Vinyl wallpaper – Wipe with a damp sponge. Avoid abrasive cleaners.

Can the wallpaper be removed?

We hope you’ll love your wallpaper for years to come, but if the time ever comes to remove it—it’s simple. Just use water to loosen the adhesive and gently remove the strips. No harsh chemicals or steam required.
