The Husband and Wife Team Behind Our Brand

Did you know Ellie Cashman Design is run by a husband-and-wife team? It’s true! The people behind our brand are me, Ellie (the artist/designer) and Robert (the engineer/web wizard).⁠

Our story started in 2003 when I was a graduate student in Fine Arts in New York City and Robert was an engineer stationed in Houston, TX.⁠

Yes, it was a spontaneous weekend getaway for me, and a chance meeting cast Robert in the role of my Texas tour guide. ⁠

Fast forward 10 years to 2013 and the tour guide has become my husband, we're living in the Netherlands (in Robert's hometown), and we've had three kids there. Then, when my original Dark Floral Wallpaper design goes viral on Pinterest, Robert jumps in to help me with the business/administration/technical and logistical aspects of my new enterprise.⁠

Our second decade together has been just as exciting. In 2023, after almost 17 years of living in the Netherlands, we took another leap, this time as a family of five. We moved back to my home state of Rhode Island, where proximity to friends and family, the coastal landscape and some time spent studying at the Providence Art Club and at RISD (The Rhode Island School of Design) have reopened the floodgates on my creativity.⁠

Today, we’re a two-person team who feels grateful to work with amazing global partners for our product manufacturing, marketing and more. We're so excited to be continuing on this adventure together, and to be sharing it with an amazing community - including YOU!⁠
